Rowan Burrow, Eureka, Outduels Whitefish Baseball for Season Sweep

The Whitefish High School Baseball team was back in action, Thursday, as they played host to Eureka for a conference affair at Smith Fields.

The Lions would come away with an 8-2 victory, on the day, to sweep the season series between the two teams.

Rowan Burrow got the start for Eureka and was flawless. He went 6 innings pitched, gave up 2 runs on just 1 hit and struck out 10.

Eureka would get on the board first scoring on a wild pitch, giving them a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd.

Whitefish would take the lead in the bottom of the 4th, thanks to some stellar base running. After Michael Miller was hit by the pitch, courtesy runner Reyd Hobart would score a few batters later, on a stolen base. Brady Howke would draw a walk and stole home after a Luke Dalen walk, to give Whitefish the 2-1 advantage.

It was all Eureka from there.

The Lions got one back in the 5th with a Fielders Choice RBI by Tyece Van Orden.

The Lions opened up the game in the 6th, scoring 4 runs in the frame and would tack on 2 more in the 7th to put the game away.

Leading the way for Eureak, offensively, was Tristan Butts who went 3-3, 2R.

Michael Miller would get the start for Whitefish and went 5.2 innings pitched, gave up 4 hits, 6 runs (4 earned) walked 5 and struck out 5.

CJ Thew had the lone hit for the Dawgs, a single up the middle in the 1st.

Following all the action, Eureka improves their conference best record to 8-1 overall, 4-1 in conference play.

Whitefish falls to 3-8 overall, 2-3 in league play.

Up Next: The Dawgs are back in action, Saturday, as they hit the road for a non-conference match-up with Ronan.
